Without leaps of imagination or
dreaming,
we lose the excitement of possibilities
Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning .

Professionally and personally, my main objective is to further enhance my creative, project management, and leadership abilities that will enable me to secure a higher position in either Architectural design or construction industry here in New Zealand. Eventually, upon honing my skills, capabilities and expanding my networks, I planned to either get on with my own Architectural firm or to establish a construction company in the future. This will also be including the concurrent creation and managing of my own contemporary art studio to continue my passion for the arts that will also enable me to utilize it as a tool in sharing my talents to the society through engaging free art courses and workshops to the aspiring artists.

Technology, like art, is a soaring exercise of the human imagination.

With a extensive passion for the arts and a strong grounds in technical, decision making, communication, and leadership skills, I have thrived in both the architectural and construction industries. My commitment to continuous learning drives me to innovate and excel, ensuring that every project I undertake is both creative and expertly executed. I believe that the fusion of artistry and technical know-how is significant for creating livable spaces that inspire and endure.

Both Architecture and construction are a very challenging industry that even the leader needs further development. Being a project manager in various construction projects and upon learnings during my management studies in ICL had made me realized that I lack certain criteria like managing change, emotional intelligence, and vision and strategy. In leading a project or handling a team these three aspects are essential, managing change for example is necessary due rapid development of technologies. Everyone have to embrace to adapt the constant changes , be flexible, and leaders must set an example for any kind of transitions and have to continuously promote innovation. Similarly emotional intelligence is as important, leaders must be able to manage own emotions as well as to recognize emotions of others specially the team members. This will allow for a more social interaction and a conducive work environment. Moreover, leadership also needs to develop the ability to create a strong vision and translate it into practicable strategies that will be essential for a long-term success.

Astounding
Project Work Reflection

Studying Master of Management in ICL have given me the opportunity to experience working for a certain project through the group assessments and workshops from various papers. One of the assessment tasks that strikes me the most is the group work that has required for each team to undertake and develop an integrated project report for a real project which includes feasibility, schedule, human resources, budget, risks, and quality. This has also required for us to prepare an appropriate project management documentation of the plan and evaluate the opportunities and issues that is involved in managing a team. I consider the result of our project report entitled Development of Māori Cultural Heritage Centre as a good project work since each member of the team have shown commitment and have put an enormous effort in achieving its main goal of establishing a central area that will serve as a beacon in promoting and preserving the Māori culture and its arts in a modern environment setting with the intension of targeting a global audience for opening future business opportunities as well as to empower the communities in generating a high-level of awareness in cultural heritage preservation.

Likewise, with this project we have learned to value team work and appreciate the importance of team development stages such as forming, norming, storming, and performing. Being the leader of the team, I personally had experienced to apply our learnings about leadership and management since this undertaking have also created some challenges along the way involving time management where we need to complete the task on a very limited time and we have difficulty in aligning the availability of each member for collaborative discussions and decision making. This together with varying and conflicting ideas of each member due to diversity of experiences and education have thought me that leadership and managing has to be extra careful, need emotional intelligence, should adapt to various digital technologies for communication, collaboration, and project development in order to complete the task objectively.

In this situation, the learnings from David Allen’s book “Getting things done” and the Carol Dweck’s “Mindset: the new Psychology of Success” had also played a significant role in guiding me and the rest of the team member to finish the project work in a timely manner. Further learnings in time management, communication and delegation skills have also been helpful to ease out all the challenges that have encountered.
